Roads of the sea – the traveling Art container in Oulo 2026
Oulu and two smaller places in the region are the venue for a spectacular media installation with live performances
when the Scandinavian-German-Greenlandic Art Group TURA YA MOYA
investigate in the roads to and of and to the sea, in the light of our Nordic, Sami and Greenlandic roots and history.
What do past time journeys mean for our life today? How can we preserve the ocean’s important food chain for posterity?
The artistically research will be based on an exchange between the participating Artists and will result
in a unique live performance including spoken word, music and bodywork,
together with site specific audiovisual projection art shown from the Art Container onto different environment in the area.
A project that offers a powerful and immersive experience that engages audiences with themes of connectivity, culture,
and the environment – while also highlighting Indigenous voices and traditions.
MEREN TIET will be created especially for Culture Capital Oulo2026.

Rest in peace
Tura Ya Moya mourns the loss of Günter Schickert (right), a creative and dear person
and musician who participated in several Tura Ya Moya projects since 1998.
EUROPAMAMASKINEN in Berlin and Haderslev, MORIA on the Trekroner Fort island in Copenhagen,
and most recently the ANERSAAQ project at Biesdorf Palace in Berlin.
In the photo, he is dressed as a Norse god at the Berlin Carnival of Cultures.
Now he is surely with Thor, Odin, Idun, and the other gods in Valhalla,
playing all sorts of beautiful instruments and horns.

Tura Ya Moya sørger over tabet af Per Elbke som har været en uundværlig og engageret deltager, tekniker, fotograf og tømrer i projektet ANERSAAQ spirit of place medvirkende ved opførelserne i Hundested, Finnsnes, Eyrarbakki, Selfoss, Hveragerði, Qaqortoq, Århus og Klaipėda.
Tura Ya Moya trauert um Per Elbke unseren unentbehrliche Teilnehmer, Techniker, Fotograf und Tischler beim Art-Container Project ANERSAAQ spirit of place. Er war mit bei unseren Aufführungen in Hundested, Finnsnes, Eyrarbaki, Selfoss, Kverergadi, Qaqortoq, Aarhus und Klaipeda und wir haben viel gelacht.
Tura Ya Moya are grieving for our friend and team member Per Elbke who suddenly past away.
He was a great and irreplaceable participant in the project ANERSAAQ spirit of place.
He toured with the Art Container to Hundested, Finnsnes, Eyrarbakki, Selfoss, Hveragerði, Qaqortoq, Århus and Klaipėda.
